Does someone you know have a problem?  You may not be able to fix the problem, but you can help … just by listening.

Joyful Springers know that solutions to all problems can start with a friendly ear.  Once a problem is shared, it’s easier to begin looking for solutions.

Just remember that after you offer that friendly ear, move on to brainstorming ways to solve the problem instead of just lamenting it.

Benjamin Franklin had a list of 13 virtues or qualities that he wished to develop.  He focused on one virtue a week for thirteen weeks, then started over again. Franklin’s devotion to becoming a better person inspired me to write Healthy, Wealthy, & Wise–52 Life-changing Lessons for the 21st Century, a book of 52 inner qualities.

Joyful Springers want to be the best they can be.  They deliberately develop powerful, positive inner qualities.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”  The source of the word, enthusiasm, is the Greek enthousiasmos, which comes from the adjective entheos, meaning, “having the god within.”

So when you’re enthusiastic, you’re drawing on the divine energy within you.  No wonder that leads to great things.

Joyful Springers call on the spirit within them everyday.  They know that enthusiasm will help them achieve great things.

Feel like you’re going a hundred miles an hour?  Your days getting away from you?

Stop! Take a deep breath. Now take another one.

Everyone breathes (everyone alive, that is), but many of us don’t get enough oxygen because we don’t breathe deeply enough.  Deep breathing can calm us, help us think more clearly, and improve our health.

Joyful Springers know they need to stop and catch their breath once in awhile.

Take in as much glorious oxygen as you can so you have more energy to enjoy life!

Pay attention to your instincts and they’ll put you at the right tree so your barks get you the best results.

Get Your Feet Wet

Do you know why you keep putting off those projects you say you intend to do?

Resistance is stopping you.

Resistance is a natural human phenomenon.  It’s a form of inertia that prevents us from getting started on new projects, especially when the projects are big ones.

To get through resistance, you need to break your projects down into little bitty chunks.  Instead of saying you’ll start exercising a half hour a day, go for a minute.  Instead of saying you’re going to start your novel, plan to write a sentence.

In other words, you don’t have to dive in.  Just get your feet wet.

Joyful Springers know that getting their feet wet is the way to move past resistance and make things happen in their lives so they can reach their goals.

When someone is talking to you, do you really listen … REALLY listen? Most of us listen with just part of our attention.  We don’t totally focus on what we hear.

Joyful Springers really listen.  They know that real connection with others comes from learning about what matters to other people.
