Poke Your Head Out

When you’re overwhelmed, the world can seem big, bad, and scary.  Although it’s fine to withdraw and burrow in sometimes; eventually, you have to keep going. You don’t, however, have to push yourself too hard.

Joyful Springers poke their heads out when they’re overwhelmed.  They’re gentle enough on themselves to take it slow.

If too much is coming at you, just take a small action today.  It’s okay to assess your options before you take big action.

… another wise tidbit from a joyful English Springer Spaniel.

[Meet Ruby.  Ruby is a one-year old Springer spaniel (only a few weeks old in the above photo) who chose her people.  Gary and Susan Dysart had been talking about whether or not to get a dog for a month or so following the death of their beloved Husky, Gus.  One day, Susan heard a puppy crying outside the door.  She went outside and found little five-week old Ruby on the doorstep.  Ruby had wandered away from her momma and litter-mates, who were a couple doors down.  Of course, Susan fell in love with Ruby, and Ruby came to live with the Dysarts when she was eight-weeks old. Thanks, Ruby, for being a Guest Star on The Joyful Springer.]

Secrets can take a lot out of us.  They can create shame and stress.

Most secrets, though, aren’t as bad as we think they are.

Joyful Springers share their secrets.  They know they feel better when they have nothing to hide.

If a secret is burdening you, choose someone you trust, and tell them what’s been weighing you down.  Then remind yourself you’re just fine no matter what … and move on.
