Sit Down In The Crowd

The media loves to advise us on how to “stand out from the crowd.”  Advertisers count on our wanting to be different enough to buy products that will make us feel special and unique.

But do you know what true uniqueness is?  True uniqueness is such total ease with you and your life that you have no need to try and stand out.

Joyful Springers sit down in the crowd.  They don’t need to say, “Look at me, look at me,” because they know they’ll get just the right attention at just the right time if they simply settle into being themselves.

Take the time to think about what you’re doing today.  Are you trying too hard to be noticed?  When you sit back and relax into who you are, the right people will pay attention.

… another wise tidbit from a joyful English Springer Spaniel.

[Meet the "Rescue Pups".  These adorable babies, born May 13, 2009, are the offspring of a mom and dad pair of Springers who came into rescue in North Carolina when the mom was pregnant. Pam Civile, the North and South Carolina Coordinator for English Springer Rescue America, sent me this photo and told me that one of the puppies, Wallis, now lives in a happy home with her mummy, Catherine Jones, and her big sisters, Sidney and Betsy

English Springer Rescue America works hard to find homes for pups like these and rescue dogs like their parents.  If you have the time and financial resources to adopt a Springer who needs a home, visit the Springer Rescue site and click on your area of the map to read about dogs who might be a perfect fit for your family. (Tim and I would adopt a second Springer in a heartbeat if we had the financial ability--maybe when the Joyful Springer is a big success and makes us lots of money .....)  If you aren't able to rescue a Springer, please spread the word by sharing this post using your favorite social networking site and if you are on Twitter, retweet it.  Let's get the word out about rescued Springers who need homes.

Thanks, pups, for being Guest Stars on The Joyful Springer.]

  • Leila Morris:

These puppies are so cute. I had the honor of being the volunteer that picked up the puppies’ Mother and Father. The Mother was so sweet and loved toys and the Dad was athletic and loved to play. I got them to Pam right away. How surprised was I when all these puppies where born so quickly after. I think the one sitting is Otis that lives in Charleston. He loves to relax on the family boat. He got his looks from his father, a black and white field Springer and the Mom was a liver and white bench Springer. Although they where at my house one weekend, the parents brought so much joy to my life.

They sure are, Leila. Thanks for sharing more about the mom and dad! Springers are masters of joy, for sure, and it doesn’t take them long to take a piece of your heart. :)
