Be Boo-full

english springer spaniel be boo full Be Boo full

Life can get pretty predictable.  We get in habits and ruts.  We do the same thing over and over.

Joyful Springers are boo-full.  They love surprise and spontaneity. They’re always up for some new experience.

When was the last time you did something different?  Try eating a new food or driving down a new street or watching a new TV show or meeting someone new or learning something new.  Get up in the morning and follow your whims.  Surprise yourself with spontaneous joy.

Happy Halloween!!

Sit In The Threshold

englsh springer spaniel sit in the threshold Sit In The Threshold

Many of us spend our lives inside the four walls of belief systems we accepted years ago and haven’t questioned since.  It doesn’t even occur to some to look past the boundaries of preconceived notions.

Joyful Springers sit in the threshold.  They live their lives in the doorway of their beliefs, always ready to test the old ones and perhaps take on new ones.

Beliefs aren’t facts.  They’re fluid, and you get to choose them.  So why not choose beliefs that help you feel good about yourself and the world you’re in?  Always be ready to leave the confines of your old ideas and explore new ways of thinking that open the door to a better world.

Remember Pumpkin History

English springer spaniel remember pumpkin history Remember Pumpkin History

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, “We fancy men are individuals; so are pumpkins; but every pumpkin in the field goes through every point of pumpkin history.”

Joyful Springers remember pumpkin history.  They know that everyone started as a seed before growing into something magnificent, so they accept where they are in the growth cycle.

No one, no matter how successful or rich, is better than you.  Everyone started in the same pumpkin patch.  Have faith that you have what it takes to grow into anything you want to be.

Permission’s Not Required

English springer spaniel permissions not required1 Permissions Not Required

In some situations, waiting for an invitation is the polite thing to do.  When it comes to going after what we want in life, though, if we wait for someone to tell us it’s okay, we may wait forever.

Joyful Springers know permission’s not required.  They understand they can go after what they want head first, with gusto.

You don’t need your parents’, spouse’s, or friends’ approval to take action toward a big goal in your life.  The truth is others can find big action intimidating, and they may never encourage you.  So encourage yourself.  Stick your head in the grab bag of life and fill yourself up.

Make Protected Leaps

english springer spaniel make protected leaps Make Protected Leaps

Taking risks is part of life.  However, we don’t need to take unreasonable risks.

Joyful Springers make protected leaps.  They find the perfect balance between taking risks and taking care.

When you put yourself out there, whether physically, financially, emotionally, or in any other way, look for a way to do it that gives you some kind of comfort zone.  You can actually leap further in life if you don’t push yourself past the point of safety.

Own Your Messes

english springer spaniel own your messes Own Your Messes

We all make mistakes.  There’s no shame in it.  There is shame, however, in trying to pass off responsibility.  Pointing fingers at others, suing someone just because they have more money than we do even when we made the mistake, lying to ourselves or others about what we did–these paths are never justified.

Joyful Springers own their messes.  When they make a mistake, they step up and look others in the eye and say, “Yes, I did that.  I’m sorry.”

Be honest with yourself about things that go wrong in your life.  Is it really someone else’s fault?  Or could you perhaps take responsibility and make a change that will correct the situation?

Part The Leaves

english springer spaniel part the leaves Part The Leaves

It can be easy to get caught up in the minutia of daily living.  We get so focused on going through the motions, we forget what really matters.

Joyful Springers part the leaves.  They push past the layers of daily responsibility to remember that life was meant to be filled with joy and love.

Do you really need to do all the things you try to cram into each day?  Or can you see past some of that and focus in on what fills your life with love and joy?

Eschew The Stem

English springer spaniel chew the stem Eschew The Stem

It can be tempting to get stuck on the “whys” in life.  We want to know the cause of the problems we have, why bad things have happened.

Joyful Springers eschew the stem.  They know that focusing on the stem, or cause, of a current problem isn’t going to bring a solution.

Instead of putting your attention on past sadness, chew on future joy.

Double Your Perspective

Leo and Cessna double your perspective Double Your Perspective

Sometimes, it can be tough to be sure when we’re making the right choices because we’re too close to the issue at hand.

Joyful Springers double their perspective.  They ask a trusted friend or family member to provide a fresh viewpoint when they’re faced with a tough decision.

Of course, all decisions need to be yours.  But getting a fresh perspective can help you see solutions you might not have discovered on your own.  Don’t be afraid to ask for input from others.

Lick The Tough Terrain

english springer spaniel lick the tough terrain Lick The Tough Terrain

When our path gets rocky, we can either run away from it, or we can face it.

Joyful Springers lick the rough terrain.  They see rocky experiences as an invigorating challenge, and they keep their sights set on how great they want to feel.

You can conquer challenge.  Keep your focus on what you can do instead of what you can’t do, and you’ll find the path will smooth out before you know it.
