William Shakespeare wrote, “For we which now behold these present days have eyes to wonder, but lack tongues to praise.”

Joyful Springers lack not a tongue to praise.  They love to shower those around them with compliments because they’re always looking for the best in others and delight in finding it and pointing it out.

As you go through your day, make it your intention to find things to appreciate in those you encounter.  Then hand out praise right and left, like you’re Santa and you have a bag full of compliments.  Not only will people love it, you’ll feel great doing it.

It’s great to be confident.  Not so great to be obnoxious about it.

Joyful Springers veil their graces.  They know they’re hot stuff, but they don’t go around thinking they’re any hotter than others.  They’re confident but humble.

You can believe in yourself without believing you’re superior.  The truth is that you’re not better than anyone else, and no one else is better than you.  So go ahead and know you’re great, but keep the self opinion setting on confidence and not superiority.  When you do this, you’ll find it much easier to accept others.

This gorgeous seven-year old Irish setter mix from Germany has a flare for fashion, says his owner, Christina Hegele.  Although he never wears any doggy fashions, if you drape him in a scarf, he loves it.  He also, as you can see from this photo, loves curtains.  He likes to use them as veils. We expect a lot of brains everyday, and we tend to take them for granted.

Joyful Springers support their heads.  They eat well, challenge themselves to learn new things, and make sure they have plenty of de-stressing time so they can keep their brain cells in optimal condition.

Your brain works hard for you, so take care of it. Nourish your brain cells with healthy food, interesting challenges, and lots of restful sleep and fun activities.  You’ll find that when you do this, you’ll think more clearly, and you’ll be more creative.

This ten-month old boy (seven months old in the photo) from Greensboro, North Carolina, recently had a little procedure that he's heard is called "neutering," but he's not sure what that means.  His mom, Darlene Hoffman, says Snickers thinks the blue thing around his neck is “his royal collar! Inside each and every one of us is a big ol’ teddy bear–a part of us that’s soft, lovable, and quite fond of hugs.

Joyful Springers cuddle their inner teddy bear.  They embrace the soft, cushy part of themselves, even though they know it makes them vulnerable.

If you feel like you need to be tough to make it in your career or relationships, think again.  Strong is one thing.  Tough is another.  You can be strong and approachably lovable at the same time.  Own that part of you that’s as cuddly as a teddy, and you’ll find people opening up to you in ways they never have before.

Rub Against It

Did you know that we tend to live up to, or down to, those with whom we keep company?  Studies have shown that our income is generally in the same range as those of the people we interact with.  The same goes for intelligence, happiness, and many core qualities and values.

Joyful Springers rub against it.  They know that if they want to change some circumstance in their life or some inner quality, they need to seek out others who have what they want.

If you’re dissatisfied with some part of your life, look at the people in your life and see if they’re reflecting similar circumstances or qualities.  They probably are.  Make it a priority to making connections with people who embody the experiences and qualities you want, and your own experience will begin to change.

Joyful Springers seek out the purity.  They deliberately choose positive, loving thoughts.

If you would like your life to be as lovely and fresh as a new snowfall and it’s more dark and murky like a swamp, take a look at your thoughts.  What are you focused on?  Are you worried?  Are you fretting?  Are you grousing?  You can choose today to begin shifting your thoughts to ones that create joy.

Life is pretty cool when we can see the way ahead.  But what about when everything seems to be up in the air, in spite of our planning, and it feels like any step we take will be around a blind corner?

Joyful Springers stretch around corners.  They’re willing to extend themselves in faith, knowing that whatever they step into will be for their good and that they’ll find a way to make it fun somehow.

If you feel stuck because you just can’t envision what’s coming next, give up the planning and the need to know how things might turn out.  Just stretch yourself a bit.  Reach into the unknown with confidence and be open to discovering something delightful.

The world can feel like a scary place, but it doesn’t have to be one.

Joyful Springers wear a security blanket.  They know that their positive thought and focus attracts to them wonderful experiences.  When they look for the safety and the happiness in the world, they are safe and happy.

You can’t control everything that goes on around you by protesting this or lamenting that.  But you can control what happens to you by controlling where you put your attention.  The more you relish the safe, happy moments, the more those moments will expand to become a lifetime of joy.

It’s that time of year.  Short days and cold weather often bring blue moods.  But we don’t have to hang onto those moods.

Joyful Springers dance away the winter blues.  They find ways to frolic in any weather and under any conditions.

You can choose to feel blah because it’s not bright and shiny and warm outside.  Or you can choose to have fun.  Get up and move!! When you shake your tail a bit, you rev up your energy and your mood.

[Sweet Pea is back. This lively eight-month old's mom, Denise, says she wishes she could have someone take action shots of Sweet Pea because "it's hard to play and take pictures at the same time."  Anyone who owns an active dog has had that issue--and we probably all have blurry pictures of tails, the floor, and the wall. It’s tempting to want to fix problems for other people, but that’s not the best way to help them.  We all do best when we solve our own problems, but it’s awfully nice when we have a little support along the way.

Joyful Springers brace up others.  They don’t try to fix anything for anyone because they trust others to have the power to shape their own lives.  But they do offer loving encouragement and help when they can to those who are on challenging journeys.

It’s not your job to solve things for the people you know.  You don’t have to unravel their issues.  But you can be there for them while they do it themselves.  Your caring, enthusiastic support and your positive energy will help empower others far more than your attempts to control specific circumstances.
