Coalesce

We all have multiple aspects to our selves.

Joyful Springers coalesce.  They honor and own all parts of who they are instead of trying to cut themselves off from traits they don’t like.

It’s natural to try to ignore or tamp down parts of your character you consider bad or shameful.  But when you do that, you devalue the whole of who you are and you diminish yourself in the process.  When you let all your parts–the good, the bad, and the ugly icon smile Coalesce –be okay, you enhance yourself in a way that makes you better than you thought you were.

[River is back, and she has her new little brother, Henry with her.  River turned a year old a couple months ago, about the time her momma, Abigail, took this photo, and Henry is 10 1/2 weeks here.  Is he adorable, or what? icon smile Coalesce ]

Slurp Often

Slurp often Nellie Slurp Often

Slurrrrrrp!  Rarely do you hear this sound except when someone is savoring the pleasure of something yummy.

Joyful Springers slurp often.  They understand that every part of life has yumminess in it, and the best way to remind yourself of that is to go into everything with a “what’s here to slurp?” attitude. icon smile Slurp Often

Even the things we dread, even our biggest challenges, even our most emotional moments have something in them to savor.  Getting in the habit of making a little slurp sound now then can remind you to look for the tasty aspects of all of your experiences.

[Nellie's back. Betsy Kiehl's sweetie recently turned two years old, and she's slurping up the fun.  Betsy said Nellie was born in the same month that Betsy's last beloved Springer, Charlie, was born.  So she was born the same month and year that Charlie died.  I often think that our older dogs somehow pave the way for their replacements before they leave.  Betsy says that Nellie has helped ease the heartbreak of losing Charlie.  I know what she means because Ducky has done the same, helping Tim and me through the loss of our Muggins.]

Emerge

Emerge bonnie Emerge

Winston Churchill said, “Out of intense complexities intense simplicities emerge.”

Joyful Springers emerge.  They understand that when life seems its most complicated, the way out of the thicket is putting attention not on all the intricacies of the situation but on the core of what’s desired from it.

Under everything you want to accomplish or solve is a core value–a way of being or feeling that you prioritize.  When you keep your core values in the forefront of your mind, you turn the complications of life into the simple intention to live true to what matters to you most.  And when you do that, things have a way of falling into place.

[Bonnie is back.  Barbara Dunn, this  lovely mixed breed's momma says, "Bonnie has played hide n' seek every day when I get home  from work since she first came to us.  She will hide behind trees but these bushes are her favorite.  She is good at helping me find my inner child after playing adult all day." icon smile Emerge ]

Remember Why You Were Born

Ducky 2nd birthday Remember Why You Were Born

You didn’t come into this world to hate … or judge … or complain … or struggle.

Joyful Springers remember why they were born.  They know they are alive to be part of an endless connection of love and joy.  They know they came here to experience the world as it is … just ducky!

When you keep in mind why you’re here in this world, it’s easier to live in acceptance and harmony with everyone and everything around you.  Ever wonder what your life purpose is?  Your life purpose is to feel love and happiness … always.  Living from this “just ducky” awareness makes life a lot more fun!

[Ducky is two years old today!  Happy Birthday To Ducky!!!!  Our birthday girl definitely knows she's here to love and be loved and have a great time! icon smile Remember Why You Were Born ]

Defy Barriers

Defy Barriers pump gibbons Defy Barriers

Who says it can’t be done?

Joyful Springers defy barriers.  They see obstacles merely as challenges that invite playful action.

Whatever is in your way isn’t permanent.  In fact, often, something that seems like a big deal is something you can easily knock over … or squirm under.  When you look past barriers instead of at them, you can figure out how to get to the other side of them.

[Pump is back.  Clearly, Helen & Rich Gibbons' clever girl understands that barriers are optional. ]

Put Your Shoulder To The Ball

rescue dog put your shoulder to the ball Put Your Shoulder To The Ball

A line from Aesop’s fable, Hercules and the Wagoner, “Put your shoulder to the wheel,”  has become a sort of unspoken mantra for our society.  It has become like a teeny, invisible slave driver sitting on our shoulders, cracking the whip and bellowing, “Work harder.  Work harder.”

Well, forget the wheel and that slave driver.

Joyful Springers put their shoulder to the ball.  They understand that life isn’t supposed to be a push and a struggle.  They know it’s supposed to flow and roll along … kind of like a ball.

Instead of manhandling your way through the day forcing yourself to stick to obligations and agendas, start listening to your inner guidance and what it tells you to do.  That guidance will lead you to a balance of work and play that will transform pushing a wheel into having a ball.

[Mollie's back. This mixed breed girl takes her ball playing seriously.  She uses it to help bring balance into the busy life of her momma, Donna, who's a life coach teaching people how to create fun and fulfilling lives. ]

Slacken Your Leash

Slacken your leash Lilly Scotch Slacken Your Leash

Discipline has a place in life.  But it can get out of hand.  Some people have their lives so orchestrated and regimented that they’re tied up all day long.

Joyful Springers slacken their leash.  They have some order in their lives, but they partner that order with laid-back freedom to just be.

Unleash yourself from the constraints of constant doing.  Enjoy joyful moments of being.

[Meet Lilly.  This 10 1/2-month old sweetie is from Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  Her momma, Barbara Scotch, says that in this photo, Lilly is resting after her morning exercise.  Thanks, Lilly, for being a Guest Star on The Joyful Springer. icon smile Slacken Your Leash ]

Bite Into Pig Energy

Bite into that pig energy Bite Into Pig Energy

Pigs are symbols of wealth, prosperity, and luck.  As an animal totem, the pig stands for the intuition and determination to take swift and right action in life.

Joyful Springers bite into pig energy.  They cultivate an inner knowing and power that allows them to easily make the best choices in their lives.

When you set an intention to trust your intuition, you tap into the pig totem energy that attracts prosperity into your life.

[Ducky loves the new pig toy her grandma and grandpa gave her.  Since Ducky loves toys that squeak loudly, my mom went into Petsmart and squeaked every toy they had to find the best squeaker.  icon smile Bite Into Pig Energy ]

Carry Dumbbells

English springer spaniel CARRY DUMBBELLS Carry Dumbbells

There is a Zen saying, “Before enlightenment, chopping wood and carrying water. After enlightenment, chopping wood and carrying water.”

No matter how spiritual we get, life goes on.

Joyful Springers carry dumbbells.  They know that the “weight” of everyday tasks must be carried, and in fact, that weight acts as ballast for all spiritual practices.

Don’t underestimate the value and importance of mundane chores and work.  They create the strength that elevates your spirit.

Ignore Hangers-On

english springer spaniel IGNORE THE HANGERS ON Ignore Hangers On

Not everyone you know wants you to get ahead.  There will be those who feel threatened when you make big changes.

Joyful Springers ignore hangers-on.  They don’t let anyone keep them from chewing on whatever interests them.

So what if your friends hate that you’re giving up alcohol or your spouse is threatened when you go on a diet or your co-workers wish you wouldn’t do such a great job?  You do what you need to do for you.  Never let others crawl onto your back and hold you back from the life you want to live.

[Murphy is back and he has Harley with him.  Murphy is Lee Linenberg's handsome Springer and Harley is Lee's Chocolate lab grand-dog.  Harley has a tendency to attach himself to Murphy, but that doesn't distract Murphy from important chewing matters. icon smile Ignore Hangers On ]
