It’s Okay To Flop

Boxer its okay to flop fail Its Okay To Flop

We often go out of our way to avoid failure.  We hate failure so much, we don’t let ourselves even try things that might not turn out the way we want.

Joyful Springers know it’s okay to flop.  They have no problem with failure because failing helps them learn.  Every time they fail, they have a better idea of what they need to do to succeed.

Don’t hold yourself back because you’re afraid of failure. Give yourself permission to fail spectacularly.  Grand successes can’t grow out of the unseeded ground of doing nothing.

Open In The Snow

english springer spaniel open in the snow Open In The Snow

Author, Alice M. Swaim, wrote, “Courage is not the towering oak that sees storms come and go; it is the fragile blossom that opens in the snow.”

Joyful Springers open in the snow.  They don’t need circumstances to be perfect in order to be their best.  They have the courage and focus to thrive anywhere, anytime.

If you wait for the world around you to be ideal before you sit up and proudly claim the best of you, you will wait a very long time.  Don’t hesitate, thinking things will someday be just right for you to make your move.  NOW is the time for you to thrive.  NOW is the time for you to triumph.

[Ruby is back.  Her dad, Gary, says that Ruby loves the snow.  And, he says, "She taught herself to sit this way."  He says she sits like this on the couch too. Thanks, Ruby, for guest starring again on The Joyful Springer.]

Cavort

english springer spaniel cavort Cavort

Things like snow can be a hassle or a happy experience of jolly play.  It all depends on whether you have an “chore” attitude or a “fun” attitude.

Joyful Springers cavort.  They can turn almost anything into lively, boisterous fun.

A chore is only a chore when you think it is.  Ask yourself  how you can make your obligations and “hassles” more fun today, and you’ll be surprised at how few chores and hassles you actually have.

Soar Toward It

engilsh springer spaniel soar toward it Soar Toward It

When we have a goal, we’re usually excited about it at the beginning.  Then as we move into action, we often slow to a plod.  We lose our exuberant passion and just go through the motions.

Joyful Springers soar toward it.  They never lose enthusiasm for their desires.  Everyday, they leap toward what they want.

Treat your goals and desires like a ball that’s just been tossed up in front of you.  You don’t have time to plod.  You need to leap.  Connect with your original passion to put energy behind your daily actions toward what you want.

It’s Okay To Hang Back

english springer spaniel its okay to hang back Its Okay To Hang Back

Sometimes we just don’t have the courage to forge ahead.  That’s okay.  We don’t always have to be in the lead.

Joyful Springers know it’s okay to hang back.  They don’t always need to lead.  They know they’ll learn things if they follow now and then.

If you’d like to check something out but you’re a little unsure, look for someone who is already going your way and doing what you want to do and follow along.  You can learn a lot by hanging back a little and observing.

Investigate New Things

english springer spaniel investigate new things Investigate New Things

We tend to get in ruts, most of us.  If it’s familiar, we do it.  If it isn’t, we avoid it.

Joyful Springers investigate new things.  They go toward the unfamiliar instead of away from it because they never know when they’ll find something or someone new to love.

If you tend to be pretty habitual, go out of your way to do something new today.  The more things you try, the more things you will discover you like.  The more things you like, the more fun life will be.

Make The Trail The Thing

english springer spaniel make the trail the thing Make The Trail The Thing

An unknown author wrote, “The trail is the thing, not the end of the trail. Travel too fast and you miss all you are traveling for.”

Joyful Springers make the trail the thing.  They know that life is in the process, not the result.  They relish the journey even as they expect to get to their destinations.

If you’re focused on outcomes, you’ll spend a lot of time slogging through life.  Remember that life is what happens on the way to the goals, not the goals themselves.  Enjoy the process.

Be Of Good Vintage

english springer spaniel be of good vintage1 Be Of Good Vintage

Why is it we’re always so impatient to master a skill or reach the goal?  In our rush to get to the end of the road, we often make a mess of the journey.

Joyful Springers are of good vintage.  They understand that “aging,” the slow unfolding of time, is what makes every year a great year.

Wine can taste pretty lousy when you drink it too soon after it’s made.  And you can have a lousy life if you get in too much of a hurry.  Allow your life to unfold in its own timing.  You won’t want to be done anytime soon anyway, do you?

Let Your Hair Stand On End

english springer spaniel let your hair stand on end1 Let Your Hair Stand On End

When we step out of our comfort zone, we feel fear. Unfortunately, we often use that fear as an excuse to crawl back to the familiar and abandon the adventures and triumphs we could have had.

Joyful Springers let their hair stand on end.  They feel fear, but they they do what scares them in spite of that fear.

Of course, in life or death situations, fear can guide you away from danger.  But in day to day life, fear can be a false warning sign.  Fear isn’t necessarily an imperative to stop. It can simply be a reaction to unfamiliarity.  Acknowledge the fear and keep moving toward your goals.

Blaze Your Own Way

English springer spaniel blaze your own way Blaze Your Own Way

Why do we do many of the things we do?  Often, we do it “because that is how it’s done.” But what if “the way it’s done” doesn’t work for us?

Joyful Springers blaze their own way.  They find ways to do things that fit their true nature, even if no one else does it their way.

Don’t worry about the “right” way or the “normal” way to do things.  Do things the “authentic” way, the way that suits your true nature.  When you stay true to you, life has a way of falling into place just right.
