English springer spaniel nestle in Nestle In

This world has room for everyone of us.  All we need to do is find our niche.

Joyful Springers nestle in.  They find a place where they fit perfectly then they claim it for their own.

Even when it feels otherwise, you do fit someplace.  Don’t try to be everything to everyone.  Settle into the life you were meant to live.

[Meet Timmy.  Timmy is Ducky's half-brother.  He was in in Ducky's mom's Tilly's first litter. Thanks, Timmy, for being a Guest Star on The Joyful Springer.]

Ignore The Ruts Around You

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

English springer spaniel Ignore the ruts around you Ignore The Ruts Around You

Who among us hasn’t done or gotten something because “everyone else” does it or has it?

Trends.  Procedures.  Routines.  Habits.  Everyone has an established way of seeing the world and an established way of being in the world. Everyone has a rut … or two or three or a hundred.  When we’re interacting with the people around us, it’s easy to get caught in another person’s rut.

Joyful Springers ignore the ruts around them.  They don’t automatically do it how it’s always been done or get it because everyone else wants it.  They think for themselves and make their own unique choices.

Life is a vast expanse of untouched sand just waiting for your individual imprint.  When you find your own way instead of following in someone else’s tracks, you’ll make discoveries that will delight you.

… another wise tidbit from a joyful English Springer Spaniel.

[Muggins was happiest on the beach, in ruts, or out of them.]

Get A Line On Yourself

english springer spaniel get a line on yourself Get A Line On Yourself

Work, school, parenting.  Parties, volunteering, hobbies.  Alcohol, food, shopping.  We have a plethora of ways to pack our lives so full that we never have to spend any quiet time looking within.  But how can we know who we really are if we don’t look and listen to ourselves?

Joyful Springers have a line on themselves.  They aren’t afraid to look within and truly understand their own essence.

Are you honest about who you really are, what you really like to do?  Are you being YOU or are you playing roles someone else laid out for you?  Be sure you take some time to get intimate with all that is you.  Your life will be richer for it.

… another wise tidbit from a joyful English Springer Spaniel.

[Muggins knew herself very well, and she knew she loved to find treasures on the beach.]

Vault Over Others

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

english springer spaniel vault over others Vault Over Others

Do you know what determines what we can and can’t do?  It’s not facts.  It’s beliefs.  Your beliefs are what allow you to achieve … or not.

You get your beliefs, usually, from those around you.  So if people around you have limiting beliefs, so do you.

Joyful Springers vault over others.  They choose not to accept beliefs just because everyone around them holds those beliefs.

YOU and you alone can decide what you believe.  Choose empowering beliefs that make what you want possible.  And don’t let the negative beliefs of those around you keep you down.

[Ducky had a blast playing with her sister, Halo, and her dad, Victor, on her birthday, and of course, she had to prove she could jump over both of them.]

Make Your Own Splash

Friday, July 30th, 2010

english springer spaniel make your own splash Make Your Own Splash

So your competitor is kicking up his heels in triumph because of his huge sales.  Your neighbor is preening over a new car.  Your sister is showing off her new boyfriend.  It seems like all around you, people are making a splash, and you’re feeling left out.

Guess what?  You don’t need to worry about their successes.  Other people’s achievements can’t detract from your own.

Joyful Springers make their own splash.  They don’t care if others are doing bigger and better things because they know that their own thing is good enough if they just stick with it.

When you look at others’ accomplishments and envy or resent them, you take energy away from your own endeavors.  Your dream is just as important and just as viable as those of the people you see around you.  Claim your own spot in the ocean of abundance.

… another wise tidbit from a joyful English Springer Spaniel.

[Muggins didn't let her yellow lab friend, Buck's wild exuberance intimidate her ... much.]

Keep The Light In Your Eyes

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

english springer spaniel keep the light in your eyes Keep The Light In Your Eyes

Our society tells us beauty is something we have to work at to achieve.  True beauty, though, has nothing to do with hair or fashion or special creams or potions.

Sophia Loren said, “Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes.”

Joyful Springers keep the light in their eyes.  They live in awareness of their true beauty, and that awareness shines out and touches everyone they meet.

The only thing that can diminish your beauty is your self judgment.  When you acknowledge the truth of who you are, your beauty will shine out through your eyes.  No potions required.

Sit Down In The Crowd

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

english springer spaniel sit down in a crowd1 Sit Down In The Crowd

The media loves to advise us on how to “stand out from the crowd.”  Advertisers count on our wanting to be different enough to buy products that will make us feel special and unique.

But do you know what true uniqueness is?  True uniqueness is such total ease with you and your life that you have no need to try and stand out.

Joyful Springers sit down in the crowd.  They don’t need to say, “Look at me, look at me,” because they know they’ll get just the right attention at just the right time if they simply settle into being themselves.

Take the time to think about what you’re doing today.  Are you trying too hard to be noticed?  When you sit back and relax into who you are, the right people will pay attention.

… another wise tidbit from a joyful English Springer Spaniel.

[Meet the "Rescue Pups".  These adorable babies, born May 13, 2009, are the offspring of a mom and dad pair of Springers who came into rescue in North Carolina when the mom was pregnant. Pam Civile, the North and South Carolina Coordinator for English Springer Rescue America, sent me this photo and told me that one of the puppies, Wallis, now lives in a happy home with her mummy, Catherine Jones, and her big sisters, Sidney and Betsy

English Springer Rescue America works hard to find homes for pups like these and rescue dogs like their parents.  If you have the time and financial resources to adopt a Springer who needs a home, visit the Springer Rescue site and click on your area of the map to read about dogs who might be a perfect fit for your family. (Tim and I would adopt a second Springer in a heartbeat if we had the financial ability--maybe when the Joyful Springer is a big success and makes us lots of money .....)  If you aren't able to rescue a Springer, please spread the word by sharing this post using your favorite social networking site and if you are on Twitter, retweet it.  Let's get the word out about rescued Springers who need homes.

Thanks, pups, for being Guest Stars on The Joyful Springer.]

Refuse Disguises

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

english springer spaniel refuse disguises Refuse Disguises

People want us to be who they want us to be, and that’s too often not at all who we are.  If we spend our lives trying to meet other people’s expectations, we can easily drive ourselves crazy.

Joyful Springers refuse disguises.  They do not let others try to turn them into something they’re not.

Remember that the true you is the best you.  Whether that you is what someone else wants doesn’t matter.  Wear your true face today and everyday.

Be Independent

English springer spaniel be independent Be Independent

For all our differences, we live in a pretty homogeneous world.  And we’re bombarded daily by media messages that encourage us toward group-think.

Joyful Springers are independent.  They listen to what others have to say, but they think for themselves.  They aren’t afraid to hold unpopular opinions, and they don’t give two woofs about trends.

Forget about fitting in today.  Who needs to fit in?  You have a right to stand out!  So stand out in your own limitless field of ideas and choices.  Celebrate being uniquely you.

… another wise tidbit from a joyful English Springer Spaniel.

[Ducky wanted to assert her independence and refuse to wear the stupid hat and hold the funny stick, but she found a compromise, and wore the hat in her own, unique way. Today is Independence Day in the U.S. So Happy 4th to all American Joyful Springers.]

Be In Good Taste

Kittie be in good taste Be In Good Taste

Some people think that in order to be unique, they need to be so outrageous that they’re crude.  They think being shocking means being authentic.

Joyful Springers are in good taste.  They know they can be themselves and still have at least a little decorum.

When you go looking for your individuality, see if you can find it with some charm and honor.

… another wise tidbit from a joyful KITTY.

[Toes is back.  Toes is the happy kitty recently adopted, along with his brother, Newt, by our friends, Neil and Nancy.  Thanks, Toes for guest starring again on The Joyful Springer.]
