Ignore Hangers-On

Not everyone you know wants you to get ahead. There will be those who feel threatened when you make big changes.

Joyful Springers ignore hangers-on. They don’t let anyone keep them from chewing on whatever interests them.

So what if your friends hate that you’re giving up alcohol or your spouse is threatened when you go on a diet or your co-workers wish you wouldn’t do such a great job? You do what you need to do for you. Never let others crawl onto your back and hold you back from the life you want to live.

[Murphy is back and he has Harley with him. Murphy is Lee Linenberg's handsome Springer and Harley is Lee's Chocolate lab grand-dog. Harley has a tendency to attach himself to Murphy, but that doesn't distract Murphy from important chewing matters. ]

Carry A Flag

A flag is a symbol. It represents a quality, a belief, a resolve.

Joyful Springers carry a flag. They embody positive qualities, and their actions are the flag that lets others know what they stand for.

The U.S. flag stands for liberty. What do you stand for?

Joyful Springers are in the forefront. They know they’re “all that,” and they are happy for others to know it. They know they can be confident and assured without being obnoxious about it.

You have so much to offer the world. Don’t ever let others (those flashy flowery folks or flag-wavers diminish your wonder. Own your awesomeness!

Catch The Self Love Virus

Refuse To Be Twiggy

You can be be full and rich and ripe with potential or you can be tight and dried up.

Joyful Springers refuse to be twiggy. They’re always bursting with life, all puffed up with confidence in what they have to offer.

Never ever make yourself less than you are. You, in all your glorious “YOUness” are meant to be lush, not sparse.

[Sweet Pea is back. This lively eight-month old's mom, Denise, says she wishes she could have someone take action shots of Sweet Pea because "it's hard to play and take pictures at the same time." Anyone who owns an active dog has had that issue--and we probably all have blurry pictures of tails, the floor, and the wall. In this photo, Sweet Pea gave Denise a break and held still. ]

Do It Your Way

Have you ever thought about the fact that everything you learn is just someone else’s way of doing things?

Joyful Springers do it their way. They don’t copy their teachers. They take all knowledge as suggestions and then add their own unique position.

No one’s inner guidance is better than any other’s. When you trust your own wisdom, you’re inspired to do things in the way that’s best for you.

[Butch and Pumpkin are back. Both of these Carolina cuties love to rest on the table in this photo. It was Butch who got the prime resting spot this time, and he couldn't care less that coffee tables are commonly used for resting feet and not heads. ]

Spread Your Variety

We all have so many aspects–so many sides, so many interests. Often, though, we hide away much of who we are because we get penned into a particular part of our personality or into a limited number of activities.

Joyful Springers spread their variety. They make the most of the life they’ve been given, and they let every part of their personality come out to play (both the “good” parts and the “bad” parts). They fill their days with all their interests, not just one or two.

If you’re feeling a little trapped or stuck in a rut, check to see if you’ve locked away some part of yourself. Maybe you’re not letting your fun side or your creative side out enough. Maybe you’re not making time to do enough things you love to do. Take an inventory of who you are and what you love and be sure you’re fully living the variety of who you truly are.

Have Some Decorum

Freedom of expression and authenticity are essential for happy living, of course. But in some situations, we need to pull it together and dial it down a bit.

Joyful Springers have some decorum. They understand that sometimes they need to be on their best behavior and concentrate more on manners than on doing whatever they want.

Of course, you must be uniquely you all the time. But that doesn’t mean you need to be impolite. Even if you’re as quirky as all get out, you can find a little room for manners.
