Team It Up

Coach Vince Lombardi said,“Individual commitment to a group effort — that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.”

Joyful Springers team it up.  They understand that they multiply their personal energy tenfold when they combine it with others who are heading in the same direction they are.

Whatever you can do on your own you can do even better when you hook up with a friend or two.  If you have an idea for a new project or business, don’t hoard it.  Share it, and let the energy of a team carry it to places you never thought were possible.

[Pump and Butch are back, and they would like to introduce their new foster? brother, Jeter.  Jeter is an adorable "Springador" puppy.  He's a Springer/labrador mix.  Obviously, he quickly figured out how to be part of a team. I said Jeter is a foster? brother because that's the current plan, but Pump's and Butch's mom, Helen, said they've become pretty attached to the fella.  So we'll see.  icon smile Team It Up ]

Spread Your Variety

english springer spaniel trample it Spread Your Variety

We all have so many aspects–so many sides, so many interests.  Often, though, we hide away much of who we are because we get penned into a particular part of our personality or into a limited number of activities.

Joyful Springers spread their variety.  They make the most of the life they’ve been given, and they let every part of their personality come out to play (both the “good” parts and the “bad” parts).  They fill their days with all their interests, not just one or two.

If you’re feeling a little trapped or stuck in a rut, check to see if you’ve locked away some part of yourself.  Maybe you’re not letting your fun side or your creative side out enough.  Maybe you’re not making time to do enough things you love to do.  Take an inventory of who you are and what you love and be sure you’re fully living the variety of who you truly are.

Use What’s Convenient

cat use whats convenient Use Whats Convenient

We live in a disposable society of gadgets and specialty services and items.  But do we need it all.  Why not use what we have?

Joyful Springers use what’s convenient.  Before they get new stuff, they look to what they have and use it in creative ways.

Why make life difficult and expensive?  Look around and see what you have that will serve you before you go out and get something new.

Blaze Your Own Way

English springer spaniel blaze your own way Blaze Your Own Way

Why do we do many of the things we do?  Often, we do it “because that is how it’s done.” But what if “the way it’s done” doesn’t work for us?

Joyful Springers blaze their own way.  They find ways to do things that fit their true nature, even if no one else does it their way.

Don’t worry about the “right” way or the “normal” way to do things.  Do things the “authentic” way, the way that suits your true nature.  When you stay true to you, life has a way of falling into place just right.

Appreciate Fences

english springer spaniel appreciate fences Appreciate Fences

We think we want complete freedom, but we really don’t.  We actually get the most from freedom when there’s some order and constraint in our lives.

Joyful Springers appreciate fences.  They understand that boundaries give them access to their greatest joy and creativity because too many choices can actually inhibit action.

Instead of wasting your energy wishing you didn’t have this or that limitation in your life.  Accept the boundaries and put your focus on finding ways to maximize your creativity and joy.

Be Boo-full

Joyful Springers are boo-full.  They love surprise and spontaneity. They’re always up for some new experience.

Just because it’s always been done a certain way doesn’t make it the right way.

Joyful Springers get creative.  They love finding new ways to do things.

There’s more than one way to take a nap … and there’s more than one way to do anything you want to do.  Brainstorm new ways of thinking and doing.  You’ll be amazed at what you can do.

Have A Group Chew

When we’re trying to generate ideas or come up with solutions, we can get caught up in the morass of our own thoughts.  We end up pondering ourselves into a knot.  Sometimes, we need to pool our mental resources with minds that don’t think like ours.

Joyful Springers have group chews.  They know that brainstorming with friends or coworkers can be an incredible way to get energy flowing toward awesome ideas.

Want to get your creative juices flowing?  Get together with a couple people you trust and start throwing around crazy notions.  When you chew on problems and projects in a group, you increase your mental power tenfold.

Climb Into The Fountain

english springer spaniel climb into the fountain Climb Into The Fountain

Actress Sophia Loren said, “There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.”

Joyful Springers climb into the fountain.  They don’t care about how old they are in years.  They care only about keeping active in mind, body, and soul.

When you put your talent to use day after day, when you find outlets for your creativity, when you find ways to improve your mind each day, you don’t grow older.  You remain instead in the everlasting youthful energy of eager discovery.  Don’t focus on the years that have gone by or on the wrinkles that have shown up on your skin.  Instead, focus on the ways you can use your energy to create joy today.  Joy is the magic ingredient in the fountain of youth.

Mix Your Patterns

english springer spaniel mix your patterns Mix Your Patterns

Do you ever feel like your life has lost its color, lost its energy?  We all feel lusterless at some point or another.

What keeps passion for life alive is creativity, the desire to bring something–an idea or a thing–into being.  And creativity requires individuality.  As psychologist and writer Edward de Bono said, “Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way.”

Joyful Springers mix their patterns.  They like to combine blobs with stripes and turn established notions upside down.

Ask yourself what you could see differently today.  Could you take an old problem and turn it on its ear?  Could you flip flop your ideas about someone you’re having trouble with?  When you mix up your patterns, you discover new beauty in everyday life.
