Liven Up The Place

Liven up the place rudie Liven Up The Place

This time of year, the winter doldrums often are going around.  You can find yourself surrounded by people who are deadened by negativity.  How can you keep these folks from bringing you down?

Joyful Springers liven up the place.  Instead of commiserating with others, they tell positive stories and throw around compliments until everyone around them is ankle deep in feel good thoughts.

Yes, energy flows between people, and it’s possible for people who have problems to bring you down.  But it’s equally possible for you to keep your focus positive so you can lift them up.

Require Shades

Require Shades Sidney Betsy Wallis Require Shades

Singing group Timbuk 3 sang, “My future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades.”

Joyful Springers require shades.  They expect wonderful things to come their way.  They see a future that meets all their desires.

The future will match your perspective of it.  If you see it as dark and foreboding, it will be.  If you see it flaring into a supernova of delightful experiences, it will be so bright that you’ll need shades.  icon smile Require Shades

[Sidney, Betsy, & Wallis are back.  Their momma, Catherine Jones, sent me this photo with the message, "Here are the girls doing their best to look cool or cute, really both."  Catherine said these North Carolina girls are wearing their signature colors here:  Sidney (red), Betsy (lavender) and Wallis (pink).  And don't they look lovely? icon smile Require Shades ]

Arm Yourself

Arm yourself Ducky Arm Yourself

Life will bring you conflict.  There’s no getting around that.  But you can prepare yourself for any conflict you may encounter.

Joyful Springers arm themselves.  They understand that developing a “weapon” of peacefulness and positive expectation will give them protection that feels just like being wrapped in the strong arm of a loving daddy.

When you decide to be a peaceful, positive person, you are always well-armed for any struggle.

Get Your Bunny On

You’ve heard of getting your groove on, right?

Joyful Springers get their bunny on.  They know they can get in a hopping great mood just by acting as if they have an ear for only the good stuff in their world.

Getting your bunny on is a attitude of positive expectation and an energetic leap into the best parts of every day.  It’s something you can choose to do right now (furry pink ears are optional). icon smile Get Your Bunny On

[Mattie is back. Brenda's lovely lady was kind enough to "get her bunny on" and pose for photos on a recent sunny North Carolina day ... even though Mattie knows she doesn't need the ears to hop into great fun.  icon smile Get Your Bunny On ]

Happy Easter from Ducky, Tim, and Me!

Step Up

english springer spaniel step up Step Up

When we see injustice or what we perceive to be unfairness, what do we usually do?  We complain about it.  But we sure don’t do anything about it.

Joyful Springers step up.  If they don’t like something, they know they have three choices:  they can either find positive aspects of it, accept it as is, or change it.  If it needs changing, they get in action to make the change happen.

Are you grousing about something you don’t like?  Your grousing isn’t helping anyone, especially you.  Either find something good about what you don’t like, find a way to be okay about it, or do something about it.

Flatten The Troops

cocker spaniel flatten the troops Flatten The Troops

The average person has an army of thoughts marching through their head daily–some 55,000 thoughts per day.  Many of those thoughts, unfortunately, are negative.  We have a tendency to fill our minds with whole troops of criticisms, worries, and doubts.

Joyful Springers flatten the troops.  They don’t let their thought army defeat them.  They replace negative thought by always looking for positive aspects of any situation or person, especially themselves.

You can control where you put your mental focus.  Deliberately look for the pluses instead of the minuses, and you’ll find life is a whole lot more fun.

Float Through Life

We’re often told we need to “stay grounded.”  But when we stay grounded, we have a tendency to get too serious, to slog through our lives.  And when we slog through life, we can easily get get muddy with pessimism and misery.

Joyful Springers float through life.  They don’t take anything too seriously, and they always expect the best.

Forget being grounded.  Go ahead and float above your problems today by keeping your eye on your goals and your spirit in play.

Mind Your Shadow

english springer spaniel cast happiness Mind Your Shadow

Buddha said, “We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.”

Joyful Springers mind their shadows.  They know they mold their world with their mental focus, so they always look for positive thoughts.

If you get too caught up in your action and leave the purity of your thought behind, you won’t get the results you want.  Project your thought into happiness, and you’ll live into the joy your mind creates.

Profile It

French essayist Joseph Joubert said, “When my friends are one-eyed, I look at their profile.”

Joyful Springers profile it.  They look for the positive aspects of those in their lives.

If you don’t like something about someone you’re dealing with, don’t pay attention to that aspect of them.  Look for what you DO like, and you’ll find even more and more to like in no time at all.

Rest Your Muzzle

Rest your muzzle for sept Rest Your Muzzle

“Yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap.”  We all want to talk, talk, talk.  We have so much to say. Unfortunately, much of it is negative.

And when we’re talking all the time, how can we hear anything that makes us wise enough to have something positive to say?

Joyful Springers rest their muzzles.  They know that sometimes silence is the best thing they can offer the world.

In silence, peace grows.  Be still before you open your mouth and notice how much more positive your words are.

… another wise tidbit from a joyful English Springer Spaniel.

[When my father bought me dog-bone-shaped neck pillow, Muggins decided it made a perfect cradle for her muzzle and ended up using it more than I did.]
