Lie Back And Wriggle

Fall back and wriggle Delta Lie Back And Wriggle

Are you in the midst of a situation you don’t like? You can struggle against it, or you can take the action that will move you through it quickly.

Joyful Springers lie back and wriggle.  They know that the fastest way to change a situation is to accept it and relish the gifts it has to offer.

What keeps you stuck in a problem is your effort to resist it.  That resistance gets your energy all knotted up so you can’t allow the solutions to flow through you.  If you can tell yourself that the situation is somehow for your good, you will relax enough that your inner wisdom will easily lead you to a better place.

[Delta is back. Joan Howe's happy girl obviously knows how to relax into any situation, even icy cold snow, and get the joy out of it. icon smile Lie Back And Wriggle ]

Chill

chill jackie Chill

“I’m freaking out,” is a refrain we hear way too often these days.

Joyful Springers chill.  They know the fastest way to “unfreak” is to forget all about whatever upset them and instead do something fun or relaxing.

You can never truly solve a problem from “freak out” mode.  When you’re stressed, you don’t have access to the flow of wisdom that brings solutions.  So when you’re facing a problem, take some time to kick back and find your feel good.  When you do, you’ll be amazed at how easily things cool off and fall into place.

[Jackie is back. This lovely girl moved to Illinois last winter and quickly got the hang of how to "chill." icon smile Chill ]

Brace Up Others

english springer spaniel brace up others Brace Up Others

It’s tempting to want to fix problems for other people, but that’s not the best way to help them.  We all do best when we solve our own problems, but it’s awfully nice when we have a little support along the way.

Joyful Springers brace up others.  They don’t try to fix anything for anyone because they trust others to have the power to shape their own lives.  But they do offer loving encouragement and help when they can to those who are on challenging journeys.

It’s not your job to solve things for the people you know.  You don’t have to unravel their issues.  But you can be there for them while they do it themselves.  Your caring, enthusiastic support and your positive energy will help empower others far more than your attempts to control specific circumstances.

Table it Once In Awhile

english springer spaniel table it once in awhile Table it Once In Awhile

When we have ongoing problems, we tend to spend all our time thinking about them.  We believe all that focus on the problem will help us solve it.  But this isn’t true. Relentless focus on problems just keeps them around.

Joyful Springers table it once in awhile.  They suspend their focus on problems and instead take a nice nap or find something fun to do.  When they do this, their energy shifts, and solutions have a tendency to show up.

If you’re obsessing over a problem you think you must solve, try setting it aside for a bit.  Clear your head.  Go for a walk.  Watch a funny movie.  Take a snooze.  Shift your attention to something pleasing, and you’ll probably get an inspired idea to solve that problem once and for all.

[Pumpkin is back. This 3-year old girl from Southern Pines, North Carolina discovered the joys of lying on a table after a foster dog, Kiki, now Josie, staying with the Gibbons family got up on the table.  Now, Pump and her brother, Butch, play "king of the mountain" with that table, according to their momma, Helen Gibbons.  So Helen lets them lie on that table, just that one.  She removes it from time to time then brings it back, thinking they've outgrown their love of it, but they get back on it again.  So she allows them have their fun. icon smile Table it Once In Awhile   Thanks, Pump, for guest starring again on The Joyful Springer..]

Eschew The Stem

English springer spaniel chew the stem Eschew The Stem

It can be tempting to get stuck on the “whys” in life.  We want to know the cause of the problems we have, why bad things have happened.

Joyful Springers eschew the stem.  They know that focusing on the stem, or cause, of a current problem isn’t going to bring a solution.

Instead of putting your attention on past sadness, chew on future joy.

Lick The Tough Terrain

english springer spaniel lick the tough terrain Lick The Tough Terrain

When our path gets rocky, we can either run away from it, or we can face it.

Joyful Springers lick the rough terrain.  They see rocky experiences as an invigorating challenge, and they keep their sights set on how great they want to feel.

You can conquer challenge.  Keep your focus on what you can do instead of what you can’t do, and you’ll find the path will smooth out before you know it.

Have A Group Chew

english springer spaniel have group chews Have A Group Chew

When we’re trying to generate ideas or come up with solutions, we can get caught up in the morass of our own thoughts.  We end up pondering ourselves into a knot.  Sometimes, we need to pool our mental resources with minds that don’t think like ours.

Joyful Springers have group chews.  They know that brainstorming with friends or coworkers can be an incredible way to get energy flowing toward awesome ideas.

Want to get your creative juices flowing?  Get together with a couple people you trust and start throwing around crazy notions.  When you chew on problems and projects in a group, you increase your mental power tenfold.

Point Toward Shore

english springer spaniel point toward shore Point Toward Shore

When we’re facing big challenges in life, it can seem like we’re  lost at sea.  We flail around and tread water and bemoan how futile the situation is.  Instead, we need to turn toward the solution.

Joyful Springers point toward shore.  They may have a problem, but they don’t keep their attention on it.  They put their attention on solutions instead.

The way out of whatever mess you might be in is within your reach.  Turn away from your problem, and the course to solutions will reveal itself.

Keep Your Head Above Water

english springer spaniel keep your head above water Keep Your Head Above Water

Although of course we want freedom and security at all times, sometimes the waters in our financial and personal lives get a bit deep.  We  start to feel like we’re on the verge of drowning in debt or projects or problems.

Joyful Springers keep their heads above water.  No matter what’s going on, they find a way to do one little thing each day that keeps them on top of their troubles.

When you find yourself in deep water, you don’t have to find your way out right away.  And you sure as heck don’t need to walk on water.  All you need to do is what is in front of you to do today.  Handle what you can handle now and don’t try to figure out how you’re going to get everything to work out.  Just know that it will work out if you keep your focus on the solution instead of the problem.

Keep Rocks To Yourself

English springer spaniel keep rocks to yourself Keep Rocks To Yourself

Occasionally, our path through life gets a little rocky.  We encounter problems and struggles.

Even though it’s fine to ask for help when we need it, complaining to everyone who will listen about the yucky stuff in our lives doesn’t serve us.  It doesn’t help us get past our problems, AND it drags down those around us.

Joyful Springers keep rocks to themselves.  They may have obstacles to overcome, but they don’t dump all their problems in others’ laps.

See if you can go through today without discussing your problems with anyone.  Instead, talk to people about what you WANT in your life.  You may be surprised at how this positive shift away from the problem in fact reveals an unexpected solution.
