Be Your Own Party

Be your own party Ruffles Be Your Own Party

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day and other parties are great, but why wait for a get-together to have a good time?

Joyful Springers are their own party.  They know how to make every day a celebration.  They do it by combining appreciation with a focus on finding what’s right about the world around them.

As you start this new year, forget typical resolutions that you’ll probably forget about within a few weeks.  Instead, set a simple intention to go through the year in “party mode.”  Celebrate your world everyday with appreciation and the desire to find the good in your life.

May your New Year be filled with pawsitively joyful tail-wags!

[Ruffles is back. Joan Howe says her sweet girl was very brave about balloons.  And obviously, she knew how to be the star of her own party! icon smile Be Your Own Party ]

Use What You Get

english springer spaniel use what you get Use What You Get

The presents have been opened.  Did you get what you wanted?  Or are you wishing for something else?

Joyful Springers use what they get.  They may have wants that haven’t yet been fulfilled, but in the meantime, they have a ball with whatever they have received from the universe (and from their loved ones).

The truth is you’ll never get everything you want because part of life is generating new desires all the time.  So never lament what you haven’t gotten.  Just have fun with what you did get.  When you do, more will be on its way to you in no time.

Grasp The Bird In Hand

Grasp the Bird in hand murph Grasp The Bird In Hand

In a material society that places so much attention on shopping and acquiring, sometimes it’s tough to “count our blessings.”

Joyful Springers grasp the bird in hand.  They spend more time appreciating what they have … and savoring the heck out of it, instead of focusing on what they want next.

Of course it’s fine to desire things.  Desire is energy that expands us.  But appreciation for what we already have is the foundation of desire.  If you don’t savor what is already yours, you’ll probably miss the joy of anything new you acquire.  When you find yourself longing for things you don’t think you can get, take a moment to relish everything that’s already in your life.

[Murph is back.  Helen Gibbons' nephew's handsome boxer clearly has the hang of "a bird in hand," or rather, in paw.  Helen and her husband, Rich, gave Murph the toy in this photo, and Murph wasn't about to let it go. icon smile Grasp The Bird In Hand ]

Keep Track Of Your Golden Balls

Keep track of your golden balls steeler etc springer spaniels Keep Track Of Your Golden Balls

Actor, Max Beerbolm, said, “Some people are born to lift heavy weights, some are born to juggle golden balls.”

What if YOU were born to juggle the golden balls of joy, love, and prosperity?

If you believe you were, you were.

Joyful Springers keep track of their golden balls.  They know they came into this world to feel great and help others feel great, and they always keep that knowing close

[Steeler, Stoney, and Stella Luna are back.  These lovely Springers from North Carolina are their momma, Debbie's, pride and joy.  Debbie sent me the above photo along with this note:  "Wanted to share Steeler guarding his territory, tennis balls, so that Stella and Stoney couldn't get his possessions!" icon smile Keep Track Of Your Golden Balls ]

Make The Most Of Your Bones

Boxer get the most from your bones Make The Most Of Your Bones

We live in a consumer society.  Ads to buy this or that bombard us daily.  A newer version of the latest doodad comes out every week.  Many of us go into debt trying to accumulate as much as we possibly can … and we’re rarely happier for it.

Joyful Springers make the most of their bones.  They savor the heck out of what they have instead of shoving it aside to chase after something new.

Do you get the most out of the gadgets and clothes and books and other possessions you own? If you’ve been yearning for some new thing you think you have to have, stop a second and really appreciate and use what you already have.  Relishing what’s in your life now will probably make you happier than any new whatsit ever could.

Welcome The Dusting

english springer spaniel welcome the dusting Welcome The Dusting

It’s great to have clear desires, to know exactly what we want.  Having specific goals can be motivating.  But if we are too attached to getting things a particular way, we may miss a lot of wonders.

Joyful Springers welcome the dusting.  They’re happy when they get even part of their desires because they know that every little bit of what they want is a wondrous gift.

If you want something like a particular job or specific amount of money, don’t wait until you get it to be excited about what’s coming your way.  Celebrate every penny.  Bask in every tiny success.  It’s all worthy of appreciation, and the more you appreciate, the more great things come your way.

Peek Through The Slats

Peek through the slats Murphy and Ollie Lee LInenburg Peek Through The Slats

Sometimes it can feel like what we want is very far away.  Though we used to have a clear vision of our dream, now we can barely see it. When this happens, we have to find a way to get our goal back in focus.

Joyful Springers peek through the slats.  By looking for things to appreciate and things that feel good, they find the path of least resistance to get their focus back on what they want.

When a dream is a long time coming, your disappointment puts you out of vibrational sync with what you want.  Appreciating and doing things that make you feel good help you get in vibrational alignment with your desires again.  Once you’re in alignment, you can put your happy focus back on what you want and watch it appear in your life.

Play With What You Have

english springer spaniel play with what you have Play With What You Have

A lot of people seem to live by this bumper sticker advice: “He who dies with the most toys wins.” They run out and buy as many gadgets or as much stuff as they can.  And there’s nothing wrong with that if it makes them happy.  But often, people accumulate new stuff before they’ve even enjoyed what they already own.

Joyful Springers play with what they have.  They appreciate their current bounty instead of yearning for more.

Before you move on to the next new thing, make sure you’re getting the  most out of the blessings that are in your life now.

Beach It

English springer spaniel beach it Beach It

We spend most of our days rowing and rowing our boat through waters that sometimes are calm but often are roiling with turbulence.  Instead of trying so hard, we need to bring our boat to shore and leave it at waters edge while we run free.

Joyful Springers beach it.  They know that the way to achieve their desires to to stop laboring at the oars and instead just frolic in the sand.

Life’s beach is a place of appreciation and happy thought. When you understand that being in that place is more important that struggling through the days, you’ll discover how easy life can be.

It’s All In Hand

English springer spaniel its all in hand Its All In Hand

How much of the day do you spend worrying?  Probably a good bit.  Worry is rampant in our society.

Studies have shown that less than 15 percent of what we worry about ever happens.  So is worry worth that 15 percent that may actually be a problem?

The Dalai Lama said, “If there is a solution to a problem, there is no need to worry. And if there is no solution, there is no need to worry.”  The truth is that worry doesn’t prevent or solve problems.  In fact, it makes them worse.

Joyful Springers know it’s all in hand.  They understand that the universe is being orchestrated by a force far more powerful and benevolent than our worry-full minds.

When you find yourself worrying today, take a breath and let it go.  Replace worry with a thought that makes you feel good.  Do this consistently, and over time, you’ll discover you have much less to even consider worrying about.
