Grant An Audience

Grant an Audience Jackie and Rudie Grant An Audience

When we get angry with people, we often want to freeze them out.  We refuse to hear anything they have to say.

Joyful Springers grant an audience.  Even if they’re upset, they invite others to express themselves because they know that the first step to understanding is listening.

Don’t let altercations mess up your holidays.  If someone disturbs you, keep the ground beneath you both thawed enough to allow communication.  The more you keep the space between you warm, the more likely you’ll create a connection that will dissolve conflict.

Put Your Back To The Fray

Put your back to the fray pump carlie and Jeter Put Your Back To The Fray

Conflict happens.  But do we really have to engage with it?  Do we need to read about it, talk about it, worry over it?  No, we don’t.

Joyful Springers put their back to the fray.  They may be surrounded by contention, but they remain serenely oblivious to its specifics.

Is it possible you get involved in more conflict than is absolutely necessary?  Unless some sort of clash is right in your face, as in someone has a problem directly with you that  needs to be resolved, you and everyone around you will benefit if you turn away from as many fracases as you can.

[Pump, Jeter, and Carlie are back.  Great buddies, Jeter and Carlie, love to play, but it looks like Pump isn't in the mood for their antics.  She's just going to ignore the youngsters and take a nice nap. icon smile Put Your Back To The Fray ]

Arm Yourself

Arm yourself Ducky Arm Yourself

Life will bring you conflict.  There’s no getting around that.  But you can prepare yourself for any conflict you may encounter.

Joyful Springers arm themselves.  They understand that developing a “weapon” of peacefulness and positive expectation will give them protection that feels just like being wrapped in the strong arm of a loving daddy.

When you decide to be a peaceful, positive person, you are always well-armed for any struggle.

Have An Underbite

boxer have an underbite Have An Underbite

When people get in our face and verbally attack us, it’s instinct to attack back.  But that kind of confrontation doesn’t serve us.  There’s a better way.

Joyful Springers have an underbite.  Instead of charging in with a growl and bite when confronted, they under-react.  They remain calm, listen if it’s appropriate, and walk away if it isn’t.

You don’t have to engage with people who are raring for a fight.  Stay in your own quiet energy and let them vent if they’re polite about it. If they aren’t, tell them to have a nice day and walk away.  Defensive reactions just escalate the negativity.  And who needs that?

… another wise tidbit from a joyful BOXER.

[Meet Lofty. This uniquely handsome nine-year old boxer is originally from Seville, Spain.  He was abandoned as a puppy, and his momma, Susan Dickson and her then husband, who was in the RAF and stationed in Gibraltar, adopted Lofty and took him back to England with them.  Susan says Lofty is her best friend.  Though some might find Lofty's natural expression intimidating, "He is," Susan says, "one of the happiest dogs I have ever known and loves everybody and everything." Thanks, Lofty, for being a Guest Star on The Joyful Springer!]
