Face Doorways

english springer spaniel face doorways Face Doorways

The only thing we can see is what we’re looking at.  Sounds obvious, right?  So why, if we’re unhappy with where we are, do we keep looking at where we are?  Why not look for a way out of where we are?

Joyful Springers face doorways.  They know that they’re never limited to where they are in their life, and they turn their attention toward openings to something better.

You’re never as trapped as you think.  There is always an opening to something better.  If you don’t look toward the opening, though, you’ll never get through it.  Get your attention off the unwanted place you’re in and on the possibility of where you want to go.

[Muggins would stand in front of my parents' pantry door and talk until you opened the door and got a treat for her from the jar that was just inside the door.  She trained us all very well.]

Grow Into Your Frog

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

english springer spaniel grow into your frog Grow Into Your Frog

Singer Toni Braxton said, “I’m not a diva. I’m a tadpole trying to be a frog.” The truth is we all feel like tadpoles at least some of the time.  We feel small and vulnerable.  We forget we have the huge power of divine energy inside of us.

Joyful Springers grow into their frogs.  They know that they came from pure, positive energy, and they have access to that energy, which is the same powerful energy that creates worlds.

You are a powerful person, but your power isn’t in your efforts to control what’s going on around you.  Your power lies within you, in your focus and thought.  Own your power today.

[Meet Mattie.  This lovely old girl from New Bern, North Carolina, had a tough early life, but thanks to the great people at English Springer Rescue America and her great foster parents, she made her way to her current momma, Brenda, whose "100s of pictures" of Mattie attest to how much Mattie is loved. Thanks, Mattie, for being a Guest Star on The Joyful Springer.]

Peek through the slats Murphy and Ollie Lee LInenburg Peek Through The Slats

Sometimes it can feel like what we want is very far away.  Though we used to have a clear vision of our dream, now we can barely see it. When this happens, we have to find a way to get our goal back in focus.

Joyful Springers peek through the slats.  By looking for things to appreciate and things that feel good, they find the path of least resistance to get their focus back on what they want.

When a dream is a long time coming, your disappointment puts you out of vibrational sync with what you want.  Appreciating and doing things that make you feel good help you get in vibrational alignment with your desires again.  Once you’re in alignment, you can put your happy focus back on what you want and watch it appear in your life.

Keep Rocks To Yourself

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

English springer spaniel keep rocks to yourself Keep Rocks To Yourself

Occasionally, our path through life gets a little rocky.  We encounter problems and struggles.

Even though it’s fine to ask for help when we need it, complaining to everyone who will listen about the yucky stuff in our lives doesn’t serve us.  It doesn’t help us get past our problems, AND it drags down those around us.

Joyful Springers keep rocks to themselves.  They may have obstacles to overcome, but they don’t dump all their problems in others’ laps.

See if you can go through today without discussing your problems with anyone.  Instead, talk to people about what you WANT in your life.  You may be surprised at how this positive shift away from the problem in fact reveals an unexpected solution.

[Meet Wallis.  Wallis, who lives in Charleston, South Carolina with her mummy, Catherine Jones, and her two Springer sisters Sidney and Betsy, is a 13-month old happy "clown." One of Wallis' parents was a Field Springer and the other was a Bench Springer, so she has her own unique look.  Always looking for fun, she's discovered a new hobby.  She likes to find river rocks in her backyard and carry them around, "hidden" in her mouth. Thank you, Wallis, for being a Guest Star on The Joyful Springer.]

Make The Most Of Bad Hair Days

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

english springer spaniel make the most of bad hair days Make The Most Of Bad Hair Days

Bad hair days aren’t only the days when your hair looks less than awesome.  They’re the days when things just don’t seem to be going right.  You spill your coffee.  The toaster oven quits working.  Everyone in your work has decided to become as difficult as possible.

On these sorts of days, there’s only one thing to do.  You MUST find something to appreciate and put your focus there.

Joyful Springers make the most of bad hair days.  They are masters of putting a bow on what seems to be negative.  They do it by focusing on the positive aspects of whatever is going on.

You have a choice about where you put your attention.  You can put it on what’s out of place or you can put it on something that makes you smile.  Wouldn’t you rather choose the smile?

… another wise tidbit from a joyful English Springer Spaniel.

[When her fur dried after a swim in the bay, Ducky's hair was sticking up on top of her head.  It was so cute I was compelled to tie a bow around it for a photo op.  And yes, she let me do that, but it took a strategic treat enticement offered by her daddy.]

Be A Bunny In Bramble

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

English springer spaniel be a bunny in bramble Be A Bunny In Bramble

When the tangled bramble of problems come our way, we have a tendency to get stuck in them.  We talk about our situation.  We read about or listen to others who have similar issues.  We turn into slow-moving turtles, crawling through the misery of it all with our heads barely poked out of our shells.

Joyful Springers are bunnies in the bramble.  When they encounter a problem, they zip, “quick like a bunny” through it.  Maybe they don’t solve it, but they quickly find a way to remove their attention from it.  And when they do that, the problem often resolves itself.

The more attention you give to your problems the bigger they tend to get.  Don’t get too comfortable lingering in your struggles.   Start racing toward a clear path to what you want.

Round Up Your Energy

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

english springer spaniel round up your energy Round Up Your Energy

When our energy is getting yanked in too many directions, we can feel it.  We’re trying to meet too many responsibilities, keep up with too much, take on too many things.  When this happens, if we don’t make some choices about where to direct our energy, we’ll burn out.

Joyful Springers round up their energy when necessary.  They know that sometimes, they need to carefully choose how to spend their time, and they have to let some things go while they pull their energy in on a tighter focus.

If you’re feeling a little frazzled, think about what you can let go or relax a little.  A few shifts can make everything manageable again.

… another wise tidbit from a joyful English Springer Spaniel.

[This picture was taken during Ducky's recovery time following her spay surgery.  She wasn't a fan of being still, but she adapted.  I'm learning from her example.  Lately, circumstances have created a situation where I need to round up my energy a bit.  So I'm going to be doing just one Joyful Springer post per day for the foreseeable future.  If you're enjoying these posts, I'd HUGELY appreciate if you'd share them with friends or family.  If you subscribe to the blog, you can forward the e-mails to others.  If you don't subscribe but you visit regularly, you can tweet the posts or share via some other social networking site.  I'd very much love your help to create more Joyful Springers (remember, a Joyful Springer is a person or animal who makes feeling good his or her #1 priority, a being who springs into the joyful moments in life.]

Cocoons Are Unnecessary

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

English springer spaniel cocoons are unnecessary Cocoons Are Unnecessary

A caterpillar has to get into a cocoon to transform into a butterfly, but we don’t have to hide away in order to transform ourselves.

Joyful Springers know cocoons are unnecessary.  They understand they can lift off and fly any time they want.

All it takes for you to change from caterpillar to butterfly today is a shift in perspective and focus.  You can fly toward your dreams TODAY.

… another wise tidbit from a joyful English Springer Spaniel.

[Muggins was fascinated by this caterpillar when she spotted it.  She never tried to eat it.  She just "talked" to it and studied it carefully.]

Hang Onto The Ribbon Of Your Present

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

english springer spaniel hang onto the ribbon of your present 1 Hang Onto The Ribbon Of Your Present

In every present moment, there is something good. If you look beyond the struggle or challenge of problems or stress, you find that a colorful ribbon wraps up everything you experience.

The ribbon may be that the problem you’re facing is teaching you something new.  It could be that your illness is giving you a chance to rest.  It could be that your lack of money is reminding you of what really matters in life.

Joyful Springers hang onto the ribbon of their present.  They find that bright bit of joyful color in their challenges and stay connected to that instead of getting mired in the downside of the moment.

Your present is always wrapped in bright ribbon.  Look for the ribbons and hang onto them.

Check The Periphery

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

english springer spaniel check the periphery Check The Periphery

Focus is important, but focus without awareness of what’s around you can result in a lot of missed opportunities.  Sometimes the best things in our lives sneak in from the side.

Joyful Springers check the periphery from time to time.  They look around with an attitude of joyful expectation, ready for any new experience that comes their way.

Pay attention to the peripheral stuff in your life.  You might find something great there.
