Practice The Big Throne Sit

Practice the big throne sit max Practice The Big Throne Sit

Body language is more powerful than we think it is.  The way we hold ourselves can affect how we feel.

Joyful Springers practice the big throne sit.  They strike a regal pose every time they take a seat, and because of this attitude of grandeur, they have great self-confidence.

The next time you’re feeling a little low or not feeling good about yourself, check your posture.  How are you sitting?  Are you slumping?  Probably so.  If you take a moment to pretend you’re the queen or king of everything and adjust your posture accordingly, you’ll be amazed at the boost of confidence and self image you get.

[Max is back.  This sweet Yorkie from Texas loves his "throne," says his momma, Francine.  Sshh, no one tell him that it's actually just his parents' leather sofa.  icon smile Practice The Big Throne Sit ]

Drape Yourself

drape yourself sweet pea and poppy Drape Yourself

The way we see ourselves is the way the world sees us.  If you think you’re ugly, the people will see that ugliness.  If you think you’re dumb, people will treat you like you’re dumb.

Joyful Springers drape themselves.  They position themselves to look and be the way they want to look and be, and the world reflects back to them that powerful self image.

Don’t ever accept the “facts” of who you are if you don’t like those facts.  Choose to believe you’re the person you want to be, and you’ll become that person because the world around you will mold itself to that image.

[Sweet Pea is back and she has her new little Cocker Spaniel sister, Poppy, with her.  Poppy was born on March 1st of this year, so she and Sweet Pea are just 10 months apart in age.  Their momma, Denise Niesman says, "They play A LOT and are practically inseparable. Poppy tries to imitate big sis in all things."  Sweet Pea has obviously taught Poppy the important art of strategic, and cute, draping over sofa arms.  Oh, and don't you love Denise's flower theme with her fur babies' names? icon smile Drape Yourself ]

Catch The Self Love Virus

Instead of the usual photo and words today, here’s a video I made for one of my other websites back in December last year.  I think it captures the essence of being a Joyful Springer (and it showcases Ducky and Muggins and many of the great guest stars we’ve had on the site!)

If you’ve already seen it because you subscribe to my other site, go ahead and watch again and share it.  The self-love virus is worth catching AND spreading. icon smile Catch The Self Love Virus

Reflect Your Best Self

english springer spaniel reflect your best self Reflect Your Best Self

We all have good sides and bad sides.  And we have a choice about which side we look at.

Joyful Springers reflect their best selves.  They see the truth of their own beauty and value.

When you see yourself reflected back to you by the people around in your life, decide to see the best.  Look for the ways that you shine, and you’ll find it easier and easier to shine more often.

Sometimes You Need A Big Head

english springer spaniel sometimes you need a big head1 Sometimes You Need A Big Head

If someone tells us we have a big head, that’s not a compliment.  But maybe it should be.

Joyful Springers know sometimes you need a big head.  They know that when others aren’t going to cheer for them and exult in their triumphs, they need to do it for themselves.

Instead of waiting for someone else to say, “You did good!”, do it for yourself.  Go ahead and be pleased with yourself. It’s called confidence.   There’s nothing wrong with acknowledging your value as long as you don’t belittle the value in others.

[Ducky's sister, Lucy, really doesn't have a big head.  It was just the severe camera angle when I took her photo that makes her look that way.  She's actually perfectly proportioned and quite modest.]

Prop Yourself Up

english springer spaniel prop yourself up Prop Yourself Up

We tend to look to others to tell us we’re okay, and when we don’t get the approval or praise we want, we feel lousy.

Joyful Springers prop themselves up.  They don’t need “atta boys” from others because they cheer for themselves.

You can be externally referenced or internally referenced.  When you’re externally referenced, your self esteem is out of your control because it depends on what others think.  If you want to take control of your life, look internally for the praise and encouragement you need.

Maintain A Blue Ribbon Self Image

english springer spaniel maintain a blue ribbon self image Maintain A Blue Ribbon Self Image

Who needs a prize when you know you’re a winner?

Joyful Springers maintain a blue ribbon self image.  They feel good about who they are, no matter what.

You are unique and valuable just as you are.  Don’t let anyone, including yourself, tell you different.

[Meet the Carolina Dock dogs--Pam Civile, the North and South Carolina Coordinator for English Springer Rescue America (ESRA), sent me this photo of 3-year old Pumpkin, 9-year old Riley, and 4-year old Butch. All three of these lucky dogs are rescue  Springers.  Says Pam, "With the help of ESRA, they now happily reside in Southern Pines NC.  They all love the water and being extremely active. Riley is the most avid dock dog,, and she is a senior girl. Her sister and brother are novices, and she is quite accomplished at the sport. As they say at Dock Dogs, a tired dog is a happy dog. Be sure to exercise your dog daily!"  Thanks, Pumkin, Riley, and Butch, for being Guest Stars on The Joyful Springer.]

Go Ahead And Prance

Muggins prancing on beach Go Ahead And Prance

We live in a society that frowns on being too pleased with yourself.  So we tend to downplay our accomplishments.  The problem with doing that, though, is that we’re not spreading the great energy of triumph.

Joyful Springers prance when they’re happy with themselves, and they’re happy with themselves all the time.  They know that they, like all beings, are valuable and wondrous.

Embrace the wonder of YOU!  Go ahead and prance.
